A musical version of the famous 1912 shipwreck, with songs by Maury Yeston and book by Peter Stone. This is not the movie version. Most of the characters are based on real passengers from the ship. The director of the line, J. Bruce Ismay, is venal and demanding -- ordering the Captain into dangerous waters. The ship's designer, Andrews, thinks he has created a lasting work of art. The people in steerage see the ship as a vessel to paradise, a way to achieve their dreams. Orange
